Create your own Warmblood or Friesian Horse!


Careve Friesians offers a unique program: Create your own horse! We offer you the opportunity to custom create your own foal with the approved stallion and mare of your own choice. You no longer have to buy a quality broodmare, pay the board and upkeep on her, get her bred, deal with the pregnancy and the foaling, and spend countless hours working with a new foal. We offer you a wonderful alternative. You may select one of our carefully chosen registered mares. Then choose any approved stallion in that offers shipped semen. We will coordinate with the stallion handler, supervise the insemination, handle all the vet checks, maintain the mare, administer all the vaccinations, spend the countless hours of "foal watch," attend the foaling, imprint the foal, handle the daily training and the weaning of the foal. After weaning, you pick up your custom-made horse -- guaranteed to lead, tie, bathe, clip and load quietly... We will handle EVERYTHING else.

The 'Create your own Horse' program works as follows: In consultation with Careve Friesians you select one of the broodmares that are owned by, and will remain property of Careve Friesians. Also in consultation with Careve Friesians, a selection of an approved stallion will be made. The selected mare, by way of artificial insemination (AI), will be bred. Careve Friesians organizes the artificial insemination (AI) of the selected mare. Careve Friesians will provide proper care for the mare and give her optimal guidance with the birthing process. After the birth, the foal will remain at Careve Friesians for five to six months. During this period mother and foal will receive expert care and also take part in the training program at Careve Friesians. We will manage registration, transfer of ownership and take the foal to a local inspection (Keuring) at his/her dam's side. After the Inspection, the foal can be shipped to you (at your cost), complete with a medical passport and registration information.

So this is how it works:
You pay the costs associated with the breeding, care & foaling of the mare & foal. These fees usually cost ~$5,000 if the mare becomes pregnant on the 1st cycle & the foal has no complications. They include: Stud fee, semen shipping, Licensed Veterinary AI, board at Veterinarian during breeding cycle, 45 day ultrasound, mare & foal vaccinations/wormer, well baby check-up w/Veterinarian at birth, board for mare & foal, trims w/farrier for mare & foal, inspection fees, registration of foal, transfer of ownership fees, mortality insurance for mare & foal, halter & lead rope for foal, any associated mileage for transportation. (These fees are paid on a dollar for dollar basis, meaning that you will only pay for what you use. 
You pay us $3,000 for our time organizing the breeding & caring for the mare & foal.

From the moment you decide to take part in this program, till the moment the foal is delivered to your home, you are always welcome at Careve Friesians. If you would like to stay the night we have free lodging.
Method of payment: 50% in advance and 50% when the foal leaves Careve Friesians.
